Measles, Mumps, Rubella

Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) are highly contagious and infectious diseases transmitted through airborne droplets. MMR can be prevented by vaccination.

Measles is caused by a virus from the paramyxovirus family. This virus causes an infection in the respiratory tract before spreading to the rest of the body. Individuals with weakened immunity, unvaccinated young children and pregnant women are extremely susceptible to the disease. Measles is the leading cause of death with at least 2.6 million fatalities annually1.

Mumps are caused by the virus, Mumps orthorubulavirus, with human beings as the only host for such virus. The upper respiratory tract is first infected by the virus, before spreading to the lymph nodes and salivary glands. The virus then spreads throughout the body after entering the bloodstream through lymph node infection2. Mumps infection typically resolves on its own when the immune system eliminates the infection3

Rubella is a typical infection caused by the Rubella virus. Prior to the vaccination, at least 4 babies in every 1000 births were diagnosed with congenital rubella syndrome (CRS). CRS symptoms can include permanent disabilities, eye, and heart defects. The WHO had declared the Americas free of rubella transmission in 20154

Measles, Mumps, Rubella Combined Vaccine, Live

Combined live vaccine for measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) is used widely for the immunization of children in certain regions of the world because of its advantages over the individual vaccines. Combined vaccine provokes an adequate immune response in children simultaneously for the three infections and facilitates the implementation of current immunization strategies. The MMR vaccine is a basic vaccine that is included in the immunization schedule of almost all countries. All children should receive two doses from 12 months onwards, at least 4 weeks apart.

Compared to other MMR vaccines, our vaccine has safety and efficacy data for 8 months and above, with higher virus titer value. Our vaccine is exported to countries such as Pakistan.
